2520 runners completed this very popular race on a warm night around the streets of Dublin 1 on either side of the majestic River Liffey.

There was a festival atmosphere as the runners gathered at Grand Canal Dock for the start of this race now in its 13th year.  The heat took its toll on those who went out too fast and it was a case of trying to hang on for the finish line and not give away too many places and the course was 100 metres long in order to avoid starting outside the U2 recording studios.   Paul O’Connell was a convincing winner in a time of 26.34 and well ahead of the second place finisher Brian Favey in 27.04.
